I’m suggesting we create a repository of activism ideas. Whatever pops into our heads – we leave it here on this thread. This can serve as a ‘library’ of ideas we can select from when we have adequate funding, or can serve to further develop ideas through braintstorming and critique.

    Hi All

I’ve been reading Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook recently. Its written by the guy that organised Occupy Wallstreet. Its got a part in it that I’ll quote here:

“The Strategy is no longer for party militants [on the right] to occupy the streets, but for spokespeople to occupy televisions screens.

Street anti-fascism (demonstration, marches, etc.) today is at an impasse: either it confronts extreme right groups that are politically insignificant, but physically dangerous; or it tries to confront organizations that are politically significant and finds its faced with parties that are not only absent from the streets, but are by this point well integrated into the political game, sustained by law enforcement, and perceived as legitimate by the population.

The only way to respond to the rise of mainstream far-right parties it to transform into a concrete and large solidarity movement.”

It would appear that Antifa has come to the conclusion that street activism is unprofitable. All you get is arrested and punched and the only groups you oppose are fringy irrelevant right wing idiots. What they are losing to (which they admit) is well organised groups that have face-time on TV and social media, are protection under law as what they are doing is lawful and are accepted as legit by society.

Street activism looks set to die.

A protest group of a few thousand is never gonna achieve much. You need 10’s or 100’s of thousands to actually have an effect. I just don’t think enough people these days care enough about politics to get off their fat arses and do something – anything, even. The only ones who take action are the one’s with strong convictions, and they’re generally going to be far left or far right.

    Street activism idea
Write a punchy 2-5min speech that rails against communism/socialism that our current goverment and people think they like. Channel some Alex Jones/old school fire and brim stone preacher.
Find an area with plenty of foot traffic eg CBD, Joondalup/Midland shopping centre and so on. Have a team of 3/4 and a milk create. Find a spot with people walking past or milling about put down the crate and the best speaker of the group will stand on the crate and give the speech with gusto of course. 2 people can provide support or work the crowd if people ask questions or get upset. Could even carry some signs if we know what to put on em.
Do the speech then move 500m away and then repeat. Film the speech and get some crowd reactions for social media?

People hate communism they just need to be reminded that they way our current government is going is nothing short of it, so a good old school preacher just might wake up some people as they wonder by.
