Group Chat APP

Is it worth looking into a picking a chat app that we can all use to communicate?
At the moment we all have a mix of phone numbers sms email and this forum.
Would be a good way to have everyone on the same page and be able to have a mulitple levels of group chat and groups chats for different events.

I assume we all have a smart phone of some description.
We all are willing to share our name and phone number with everyone in the group?

I can easily recommend a plethora of apps, we can have a quick selection process then at the next meet up we can get everyone linked up.

I recommend “Signal”
other apps are
Telegram (I currently use, very nice)
Viber
whatsapp

All of them work off a phone number so whoever has my phone number in their contacts list should be able to find me on Signal or Telegram.

I’m familiar with WhatsApp & Viber, but not terribly fussed. Why don’t we just get it started and bring the others on board at the next meetup?

We need everyone to have everyones phone numbers.
Next meet up we can pass a list around, everyone can add them to their contacts then install the app. Then eat the list.

I vote to use Signal atm (its the traitor Edward Snowden endorses it 🙂 I’ll test it but if someone has a hard on for one of the others I’m not fussed, I think there all about the same. I’ll bring it up if it dosent get put on the lest of things to do.
